I came upon a post about a job opportunity and was appalled. It asks, “just need about 5-6 pre-written lyrics arranged. The pay is about $500.00 up-front for all 6 arranged songs” What? In other words, they have formulated sentences and are asking a musician to compose 6 songs that will fit their sentences and hand them over for “about $500.00.” To top it all off, they are calling it arranging. Who owns the music? I didn’t know writing words on a page automatically qualified you as a composer. Then again, those answering the ad are probably unscrupulous DJs lifting portions of recordings, mashing them up, and calling them their original compositions. I guess they deserve each other…
